Crockett County 4-H shines in spring competitions

Crockett County—Crockett County 4-H members had an outstanding April, representing the community in several district and state contests. Their dedication, teamwork, and knowledge were displayed as they competed in wildlife, horse judging, range evaluation, and plant identification events.

Earlier in the month, eight members traveled to Alpine for the District 6 Spring Ag Day, showcasing their knowledge and enthusiasm for agriculture. In the District Horse Judging Contest, six members competed. The Intermediate Team brought home a 1st place win in the district contest and placed 2nd in the Sul Ross Invitational Contest.

Two members (not pictured) also participated in the Wildlife Challenge, competing in the junior division. They placed 5th and 11th, demonstrating their growing knowledge of wildlife.

Teams also competed at the Sutton County Range and Plant ID Contest with outstanding results.

In the Range Evaluation Contest:

Junior Team – 3rd Place

Intermediate Team – 1st Place

Klacey – 2nd Place Intermediate Individual.

In the Plant ID Contest:

Junior Team – 3rd Place

Intermediate Team – 2nd Place

Klacey – 1st Place Intermediate Individual.

In addition, Autumn Ramsey (not pictured) participated in the Shooting Sports Extravaganza in Brownwood.

Another exciting highlight came from Port Mansfield, where a Crockett County 4-H member competed in the State Wildlife Habitat Education Project (WHEP) Contest. Lucas Youngblood earned 1st Place in the Junior Division.

“We are extremely proud of all our 4-H members,” Rebecca Taylor, Crockett County extension agent, said. “Their commitment to learning and bettering themselves is inspiring. They are the future leaders of our community, and they continue to make Crockett County proud.”
