February 21, 1961 – August 19, 2024
Billy Shane Fenton, 63, of Ozona, TX, passed away on August 19, 2024, along-side his beloved dog, Ollie.
A memorial service will be held at the Ozona Church of Christ on Thursday, August 22nd, at 1:30 p.m. The service will be officiated by Gary Vannoy. There will be a luncheon and visitation with the family preceding the service starting at noon.
Shane was born on February 21, 1961, in Ozona, TX, to Billie Rex and JoAnn Fenton. He was the youngest of three children, and the only son. Growing up, Shane could often be found playing baseball, football, riding bulls, or camping with his family. He loved his fishing trips with his father-in-law Ronnie. He met the love of his life, Peri, when they were just two years old. Their childhood friendship blossomed into a high school romance, and eventually a beautiful love story. Fit-tingly, Shane's memorial service will be held on their 43rd wedding anniversary.
Shane always dreamed of having children, and he and Peri were blessed with a son, Koby, and a daughter, Peyton. He adored his children and imparted to them a love for life, com-munity service, and the great outdoors. Shane and Peri were also blessed with six grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life. He was a fun-loving Grandad, and his grand-children cherished every moment spent with him.
Among his many achievements, Shane considered his greatest accomplishment to be serving as the Sheriff of Crockett County. He dedicated three terms, and a total of 23 years to law enforcement, taking immense pride in serving the people of his county. He was a devout believer in God, a loving family man, and a proud resident of Crockett County. After retiring from law enforcement, Shane continued his career at Pioneer Natural Resources for 13 years.
Shane was also a past member of the Ozona Ma-sonic Lodge, a member of the Ozona Church of Christ, and served as President of the Sheriff's Association of Texas in 2008. An avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman, he taught his children to appreciate the great outdoors, and to live life to its fullest.
Survivors include: his wife, Peri Leigh; children, Koby (Katie) and Peyton Holloway (Justin); grandchildren, Adelyn Fenton, Eva Shane Fenton, Shealeigh Fenton, Lennon Holloway, Carson Holloway, and Ford Holloway; sisters, Karla Turland (Billy Tom), Kelly Castro (John); parents in law, Carolyn and Ronald Pennington; Special Aunt Karen Moore, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ozona Church of Christ. Rest in peace our beloved Shane and Grandad. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Services arranged by Preddy Funeral Home.
