Concho Valley Council records will be smashed next Tuesday evening when the Ozona Boy Scout troop No. 53, one of the youngest troops in the council, will advance six Scouts to the rank of Eagle, top rank in Scouting. This is believed to be the largest number of Eagle badge awards at one Court of Honor session in the history of the Concho Valley Council.

Ozona High School's Junior Class, holders of the soft drink concession at the football field here as a means of raising money for the annual Junior-Senior banquet in the Spring, are losers of a case of drinks and two and a half cartons of candy as a result of burglary of the concession stand at the Powell Field park sometime Saturday or Sunday night. The padlock on the stand where drinks and candy were left stored after last Saturday’s football game was broken and the loot lifted. The burglary was discovered Monday morning and Supt. C.S. Denham reported it to Sheriff Frank James. An investigation is under way.

More than 300 Ozonans filed through the gleaming hallways, operating room, laboratory, emergency room, kitchens, etc. of the new $250,000 Crockett County Hospital, occupied three weeks ago, when the hospital board and staff observed open house Sunday afternoon from 2 until 4 o’clock. Joining the hospital board and staff in welcoming guests were members of the County Commissioners Court, Manager and Mrs. J. A correction was made by the county tax office this week about voter registration requirements announced in the paper several weeks ago. The announcement stated that everyone would be required to register in order to vote. However, word was received this week by Mrs. Gertrude Perry, Deputy Tax Assessor-Collector, that persons over 60 years of age are not required to register in Crockett County. Formerly, under the poll tax system, a person had to be 60 years old on the first day of January of the year for which the tax was levied in order to be exempt from registration.
Under the new law, age on the day of the election is determinative, and he may vote without registration if he has reached the age of 60 years by that date. All other voters must register as under the old law, by January 31, 1967, to be eligible to vote in any election held after February 1, 1967. Voter registration applications are on hand now at the tax office.

PRIZE WINNING FLOAT belongs to the OHS Junior Class. The juniors won the $10 first prize for this homecoming float entered in the parade in downtown Ozona last Friday. The homecoming parade, a first for Ozona High School, featured floats made by the high school classes and organizations, and was a big success with the community. The purple and gold float featured a concession stand [right] with pretty girls throwing candy to the crowd. At center, two Lions pluck a hapless Junction Eagle [Trazell Hayes] and in back a fierce Lion sits atop a velvet throne
