The Crockett County Sheriff’s Office responded to a variety of calls for service, including traffic-related incidents, disturbances and criminal complaints. Arrests and charges are allegations, and all individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Activity Summary

During the reporting period, deputies responded to:

  • medical/fire 911 calls - 8
  • minor or major traffic accidents - 6
  • criminal complaints, disturbances or loud noise calls - 5
  • civil documents served - 3
  • alarms - 3
  • motorist assists/locked vehicles - 3
  • civil complaint - 1
  • reckless driving/speeding complaint – 1.
Deputies conducted 123 traffic stops during the week.

No livestock, wild or domestic animal complaints or juvenile/school incidents were reported.

Incidents

Feb. 9

  • A deputy escorted an oversized load through town.
  • Deputies conducted a welfare check on Man O War Boulevard.
  • A loud music complaint was reported on Avenue E.
  • Deputies responded to a business alarm on Sheffield Road.

Feb. 10

  • Deputies responded to a reckless driver complaint on Interstate 10.
  • A suspicious person was reported on Avenue G.
  • A deputy assisted a stranded motorist on Avenue E.
  • Deputies conducted a welfare check on Avenue E.

Feb. 11

  • Deputies responded to a business alarm on Sheffield Road.
  • Deputies, along with DPS and EMS, responded to a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 10.
  • Suspicious person calls were reported on State Highway 163 North and Blas Street.

Feb. 12

  • Deputies responded to a motor vehicle accident on State Highway 163 South. No injuries were reported.
  • A theft of service was reported on Avenue H.

Feb. 13

  • Deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash on State Highway 163 South. No injuries were reported.
  • A disturbance was reported on Avenue I.
  • Suspicious person calls were reported on Piedra Street and Martinez Street.
  • Deputies responded to a motor vehicle crash on Interstate 10. DPS, EMS and fire personnel assisted.
  • A loud noise complaint was reported on Borrego Street.
  • Deputies conducted a welfare check on Sheffield Road.

Feb. 14

  • A suspicious vehicle was reported on Heraclio Street.
  • Deputies responded to welfare concerns on Avenue A and Avenue AA.
  • Deputies responded to a disturbance on Avenue AA.
  • A motor vehicle crash was reported on Interstate 10.

Feb. 15

  • A deputy assisted a stranded motorist on Interstate 10.
  • A residential alarm was reported on Avenue G.
  • Suspicious person and suspicious vehicle calls were reported on Interstate 10.

Arrests

Feb. 11

  • Jesse Garcia, Uvalde — Arrested for driving while license invalid with previous conviction/suspension and without financial responsibility. Garcia was arraigned, posted bond and released.

  • Valentine Colin Velasquez, Houston — Arrested for failure to appear/driving while intoxicated. Velasquez was arraigned and remains in custody.

Feb. 13

  • John Wesley Hardy, Ozona — Arrested for violation of bond/protective order (two or more previous convictions). Hardy was arraigned and remains in custody.

All individuals listed in the Sheriff’s Report are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
